A
native Dallasite, Mr. Smith left to study vibraphone privately
in Boston and New York City before returning to Dallas to perform
and record with many jazz groups, including performances with John
Cage, Phil Woods, and Johnny Mathis. He has studied Balinese music
while visiting the island on numerous occasions, and recently performed
in a shadow puppet show at a Balinese temple celebration. He is
on the music staff as an accompanist for the Division of Dance, Meadows
School for the Arts at SMU, and teaches vibraphone at the University
of North Texas and Cedar Valley College.
