Jamal Mohamed

Known
for his virtuosity with a doumbek, Jamal Mohamed, a native of
Lebanon, has been a professional drummer for over 30 years. He is currently
an instructor of percussion and dance department percussionist at Southern
Methodist University in Dallas.
Founder of the Middle Eastern jazz Beledi Ensemble, Jamal is a member of D'Drum, Dallas' critically acclaimed world percussion ensemble. He has also worked as a composer/performer with the Dallas Ballet, Dallas Black Dance Theatre, Dallas Shakespeare Festival, Dallas Theatre Center and many others.
(from stu) I've had the honor of working with Jamal on occasion, at the Dallas Museum of Art, and the Museum of Natural History, and several times working with T-Buckk. He is an absolute MONSTER on doumbek, and quite capable on a variety of other instruments. In addition, he is friendly, respectful, and down to earth. AXE Jamal!
