Chino Pozo was born in La Habana, Cuba
on October 4 of 1915. He passed away in Las Vegas,c.1977. Around
1941, he recorded with Machito and his Afro-Cubans. In the 40's
also participated in sessions with Jose Curbelo and Tito Puente.
His first experience with Jazz was with Fats Navarro. Recorded
the Afro Cuban Jazz Suite of Chico O'Farrill with Machito and
his Afro-Cubans around 1950's. Also in the 50's he performed
with Perez Prado, Illinois Jacquet, los Jazz Modes, Chris Connor,
Phineas Newborn and Dizzy Gillespie. In the 60's recorded with
Peggy Lee, Rene Touzet, Gábor Szabó, O'Farrill and Clark Terry
and The Tico All-Stars. In the 70's, he moved to Las Vegas where
he spent his last years of his life playing with Paul Anka.
